Western Alliance Bank Appoints Andrew Diedrichsen Senior Director of Commercial Banking for Northern Nevada

Reno-based leader succeeds Jim DeVolld, who retires after 25-plus years overseeing Western Alliance Bank’s Northern Nevada operations

April 01, 2026

PHOENIX — Western Alliance Bank (NYSE: WAL) has appointed Andrew Diedrichsen as Senior Director of Commercial Banking for Northern Nevada. Based in Reno, Nevada, he will lead the commercial banking team serving businesses across the Northern Nevada region.

Diedrichsen brings 20 years of commercial banking experience to the role. He previously served as Reno Market President and Senior Relationship Manager for commercial banking at Bank of America.

Western Alliance Bank has served Northern Nevada businesses since 1999, when its legacy brand, First Independent Bank, was founded in Reno. The bank operates commercial banking offices in Carson City, Fallon, Reno and Sparks.

Diedrichsen was drawn to the role because of Western Alliance’s commitment to the local community and its client-first approach. “Stepping into this new role is both an honor and a challenge I’m energized to take on. Commercial banking is evolving rapidly, and I’m very pleased to contribute to an organization that is intentional about strategy, service and culture,” said Diedrichsen. “I look forward to working with our team to support Northern Nevada businesses as they grow.”

Diedrichsen succeeds Jim DeVolld, Managing Director, who is retiring after more than 25 years with the bank. DeVolld has helped lead Western Alliance Bank’s Northern Nevada commercial banking operations since 1999 and is a widely recognized figure in the Reno/Carson City business community. DeVolld worked closely with Diedrichsen to support the leadership transition.

“We are fortunate to have Andrew in this role as Jim opens his next chapter,” said Tim Bruckner, Chief Banking Officer, Regional Banking at Western Alliance. “We wish Jim all the best and offer him our deepest appreciation for his role in founding Western Alliance Bank’s legacy brand, First Independent Bank, and building it into the region’s preeminent business banking partner over more than 25 years.”
