First Independent Bank Donates $10,000 to Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada
RENO - First Independent Bank donated $10,000 to Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada (CCNN), which will support families at Easter time and provide ongoing assistance to the communities’ unhoused and vulnerable populations.
A portion of the donation will be used to fund Operation Easter Basket, an annual program that allows families to sign up for Easter baskets that they can provide to their children up to 18-years old. In years past, as many as 3,000 families have participated in Operation Easter Basket.
“We are so grateful for First Independent Bank who continues to make the lives of children in our community, a little brighter,” said Marie Baxter, C.E.O., Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada. “This event provides a double gift opportunity in that we are gifting the baskets to the parents, and in turn, they or the ‘Easter Bunny‘ are gifting to their children. We love being able to create this magic for families.”
Most of the funds donated by First Independent Bank will support CCNN’s important work in homeless prevention. Those efforts include funding for rental and utility assistance and providing help to those seeking an identification card or birth certificate.
“Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada has been a valued resource for so many in our community,” said Jim DeVolld, managing director of commercial banking at First Independent Bank. “Families and individuals who need help obtaining many necessities have always found an offer of a ‘hand up’ at CCNN.”
For over 80 years, Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada has assisted those of all cultures and beliefs in the Reno/Sparks community and across rural Nevada. Every month approximately 25,000 individuals receive support through Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada.
