Polar Shades Sun Control Turns to Western Alliance Bank for Tailored Banking Solutions

This is a fantastic relationship. We were fortunate to have Western Alliance’s help in purchasing a new building. Everything was so efficient and streamlined.
Manufacturing companies require a range of specific banking solutions — from working capital and equipment leasing to international banking, financing for owner-occupied real estate and more. That’s one reason why, in a changing economic climate, a trusted financial partner can be the key to success.
For Nevada-based Polar Shades Sun Control, choosing a bank with extensive local knowledge and robust national capabilities was a priority from the start. Polar Shades, now a leading manufacturer of high-quality interior and exterior window shades, drapery tracks and retractable screen doors, started in the founder’s backyard.
The growing window-covering manufacturer, founded by Steve Mevius in 1995, first turned to Western Alliance Bank in 2015 for a small business loan. The company soon moved over the rest of its relationship to Western Alliance, and the two teams have collaborated many times since.
In 2020, Polar Shades moved from a 20,000 square-foot facility to a larger, 45,000 square-foot manufacturing space, requiring a customized funding structure to accommodate the move.
When, in 2025, Polar Shades was ready to grow yet again, Western Alliance was there to provide debt consolidation, a new line of credit and financing for the purchase of new equipment.
The ongoing relationship included financing from Western Alliance to help purchase a second location for Polar Shades, providing an additional production facility adjacent to their showroom and manufacturing space. The new facility replaced leased space across town, streamlining the company’s production and order fulfillment.
“This is a fantastic relationship. We were fortunate to have Western Alliance’s help in purchasing a new building,” says Mevius. “Everything was so efficient and streamlined.”
Polar Shades’ state-of-the-art facility is highly automated, with equipment on par with the industry standard in window coverings and shade manufacture. The difference? Polar Shades still makes everything in the United States. Staying true to its roots while expanding to meet its potential makes Polar Shades an admirable manufacturing success story.
The Western Alliance team prides itself on building these kinds of enduring banking relationships, and the appreciation is mutual.
“I want to say how thankful I am to work with Western Alliance,” Mevius says. “It’s been very positive to have this circle of support around us as we take on new challenges.
