Banking the Future of American Industrial Capacity
West Owen Chief Financial Officer HadrianWe’re trying to create a brand-new, innovative blueprint for how manufacturing and industrial capacity get built in this country through our automated platform. Western Alliance Bank is helping us to build that blueprint and has really taken the position of being the bank of the future for American manufacturing.
There’s a very big idea underpinning Hadrian’s mission to enable U.S. space and defense manufacturers to produce domestically at scale. The advanced manufacturing startup is building AI-powered factories for America, in America.
Building AI-Powered Factories for America
Founded in 2021 in Torrance, California, Hadrian operates four advanced manufacturing facilities totaling approximately 2.85 million square feet, including two sites in Torrance and their Mesa, Arizona facility which opened in January 2026. In March 2026, the company opened its newest facility in Cherokee, Alabama dedicated to supporting the U.S. Navy’s Columbia- and Virginia-class submarine programs. The site is expected to create up to 1,000 jobs as it reaches full capacity. Hadrian is also actively developing additional production sites across the United States.
Hadrian collaborates with its government and legacy prime clients to produce precision products at greater speed and scale. Hadrian’s pioneering manufacturing-as-a-service model works to strengthen supply chain resilience across the U.S. defense industrial base.
“We’re focused on being a massive production engine for the country,” said Hadrian’s Chief Financial Officer, West Owens. “One of the things allowing us to move so quickly is working with amazing partners like Western Alliance Bank, who believe in domestic manufacturing and in this strategy of automation to empower the American worker to operate at an entirely new level of productivity as we reindustrialize the country.”
A Growth Partnership That Started with Venture Lending
Western Alliance’s Innovation Banking Group has been part of Hadrian’s powerful growth story since 2023, starting with venture debt to build its first production facility.
“Western Alliance is as good a partner as I’ve seen,” Owens said. “They understood our potential quicker than others and what we are trying to build.”
After the venture loan, the Bank later supported Hadrian with a revolving credit facility and has since worked closely with Owens and his team to develop new financial solutions to meet the evolving and specific needs of Hadrian.
“What’s exciting about what we’ve created with Western Alliance isn’t just that we got more capital, it’s that we’re working together to create the financial solutions that make sense to support the growth of the business,” said Owens.
The Bank of the Future for American Manufacturing
For Owens, Western Alliance’s expertise and certainty of execution stood out as key differentiators in the decision-making process.
“Western Alliance Bank bought into our thesis; our banker gets the company because of his past experiences and his past expertise in this industry,” said Owens. “He immediately understood the economics of the business and how we’re going to grow into the future. That’s led to a strong relationship spanning multiple products and multiple years to date.”
Like the ancient Roman emperor the company is named for, Hadrian is focused on building projects that support the empire from within.
“We’re trying to create a brand-new, innovative blueprint for how manufacturing and industrial capacity get built in this country through our automated platform,” added Owens. “Western Alliance Bank is helping us to build that blueprint and has really taken the position of being the bank of the future for American manufacturing.”
