Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) curriculum is considered an important tool in helping students be well prepared to enter the workforce after high school or college.

However, many students in Nevada do not have access to STEM curriculum. That’s one reason Bank of Nevada worked with The STEM Academy, Inc., to make the curriculum available to Nevada’s middle school students. On behalf of the efforts of Bank of Nevada and CEO John Guedry, The STEM Academy gifted STEM curriculum to every middle school in the State of Nevada. Although adoption of the curriculum is strictly voluntary and up to each individual school district, the Clark County School District Board of Trustees recently approved its use in middle schools. Many CCSD schools are expected to utilize the STEM curriculum.

Having middle school students exposed to STEM curriculum has many benefits. In addition to providing a solid foundation for life-long learning as well as providing the skills that are increasingly in demand in the workforce, it also engages students to better understand that what they learn in class can begin to prepare them for a future career.
