April 28, 2023

First Independent Bank’s Jim DeVolld was recently inducted into the Junior Achievement of Northern Nevada’s Hall of Fame in recognition of his longstanding community support, volunteer efforts and leadership in business and education.

DeVolld, managing director of commercial banking at First Independent Bank, was presented with the Nazir and Mary Ansari Business Leaders Award at the Junior Achievement of Northern Nevada (JANN) Hall of Fame Gala on Saturday, May 6, 2023.

“Jim’s greatest attribute is that he is an amazing listener,” said Len Stevens, president of Junior Achievement of Northern Nevada. “Jim has always been willing to jump in and help any way he can, and that includes connecting us to the right people so that we can achieve our goals. In my conversations with Jim, his first question is typically, What do you need and how can I help you?”

DeVolld’s induction into the JANN Hall of Fame was unanimously voted on by approximately 60 previous Hall of Fame inductees.

“I feel very fortunate to live and work in this community and it is important to me that I support organizations that provide essential services to our citizens,” said Jim DeVolld. “Junior Achievement of Northern Nevada is one of those vital organizations that is helping the next generation be financially literate and prepared for success in adulthood. I’m grateful for what JANN provides to students and am extremely proud to be a Hall of Fame member. ”

JANN started in 1956 and its programs reach students in grades K-12 in 13 northern Nevada counties. JANN programs focus on financial literacy, work and career readiness and entrepreneurship which assists students in making intelligent academic choices while planning for their futures. Research has shown Junior Achievement Alumni are more likely to have a college degree, feel confident managing money, have career success and have started a business as an adult.

DeVolld served on the Junior Achievement of Northern Nevada Board of Directors from 1995 to 1999.

DeVolld has also served as Board Chair for Renown Health Systems, The Nevada Tax Commission, The Boys and Girls Club of Truckee Meadows, The University of Nevada Athletic Association, Leadership Reno-Sparks and as a Board member of the Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority. Currently, DeVolld is the Board Chair of the Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts.
