~Rick Sutherland, founder and CEO of ClickAway

Long before most everyone owned smart phones, tablets and smart homes, Rick Sutherland, founder and CEO of ClickAway, based in Los Gatos, California, recognized an opportunity and need within the tech space to establish and franchise a computer service business. Sutherland who had previously co-founded Wheel Works, a San Jose, California-based tire chain, often found himself in need of tech support for his computer but struggled to find anyone to even do the job, let alone to do it well. Shortly after selling his tire business in 1999, Sutherland came out of retirement to start ClickAway.

With the first storefront opening its doors in 2002, ClickAway started providing full-service technology support with professional, helpful and friendly customer care for home, and small business needs. Since then, their business has expanded to 46 storefronts offering computer repair, virus detection and removal, data migration, hardware and software installations, upgrades and maintenance programs and managed IT services.

ClickAway’s relationship with Bridge Bank began in 2008. Bridge Bank was able to provide the financial support the company needed to continue growing their network and platform of services. “Finding the capital we needed to expand was a big issue for us,” says Sutherland. “I looked to a lot of different sources but in the end, the most cost effective source of capital was bank lending. Bridge Bank catered to our needs and had a very talented team of people that understood exactly what we needed.”

Since forging a relationship with Bridge Bank, ClickAway has doubled in size largely due to the financing options and support that Bridge Bank was able to provide. The company has been included on the Inc. 500 list for fastest-growing private companies eight years in a row and Sutherland adds that 2017 is slated to be the greatest year on record. “We’re really teed up for a fantastic year. The growth of the business wouldn’t have happened without Bridge Bank’s help.”
