Founded by Bank of Nevada CEO John Guedry, the summit strives to present possible solutions to the challenges in the public education system.
The first Business + Education (BE) Engaged Summit happened in March of 2016, with the goal of increasing the business community’s participation and support of public education. Hundreds of business leaders, educators, community and nonprofit organizations attended.
The summit was founded by Bank of Nevada CEO John Guedry to address significant issues related to Southern Nevada’s public education system, including literacy, poverty, workforce development, human capital and many other issues. The summit strives to present possible solutions to these challenges and introduce organizations that are actively working to address educational challenges in the public education system.
The (BE) Engaged Summit also reinforces the reality that Nevada’s economy cannot properly diversify without having a skilled and ready workforce capable of filling the jobs of companies and industries that are moving to Nevada. Without a skilled workforce able to meet the demands of a changing work environment, Nevada’s future economic opportunities will be limited.
